First a bit of background. I bought this over a week ago and have been using it solidly for the last week or so to learn it, and see what it can do and use it on my videos for my Youtube channel and social media.I am a professional gimbal user so have worked with many different gimbals over the years from the smaller ones to the full sized camera gimbals.This new gimbal from Homem – the iSteady M7 is genuinely one of the best I’ve ever used at this size and price point.First up the design and build quality is premium. When you take it out of the (included) carry case and hold it in your hand it’s extremely impressive how light and well built it is.This gimbal seems about a third of the weight of all the other gimbals I’ve held in this category and it makes a huge difference as it means holding and using it for a long time is an absolute breeze.I’m using mine with an iPhone 15 Pro Max which is the heaviest of phones, and it works perfectly and that’s even with my phone’s case on the phone tooThere are a few things that make this Hohem gimbal stand out from the crowd thoughOne is the AI and light module on top of the gimbal.This means you can track any subject using AI and using the inbuilt camera features on your phone which is fantastic.The AI features mean you can easily track people, animals, buildings, cars etc – all using cutting edge AI technology and it’s all done for you so you don’t even have to worry about it!The light that comes in that unit is bright and you can adjust between a warm or colder white colour depending on where you are and what you’re filming or even colours if you prefer! Very handy.The light and AI tracker is magnetic and simply pops onto the top of your gimbal – easy!The second thing that makes this gimbal stand out from all the rest is the remote control feature.This is honestly one of the best things about this M7 gimbal.You simply take the remote off of the gimbal and you can operate the gimbal independently using just the remote control from up to ten metres away.This feature opens up so many opportunities – especially if you want to get shots of yourself walking around etc as your gimbal sits by itself on it’s (included) tripod. So good!It has a 1.4 inch full colour touchscreen too which is a really premium addition and has come in so useful as I’ve been using mine.In use the gimbal is rock steady. You can have all the features you can think of but at the end of the day a gimbal needs to provide a steady video and this does an incredible job of holding and guiding your phone for a perfectly steady shotThere are no bumps whilst in use – it’s silky smooth.The matt finish of the gimbal is very cool looking too. I think it’s one of the best looking gimbals I’ve used and looks great when out and about.Just when you think this gimbal can’t do anything else you then find that there’s an inbuilt 193mm extension pole so you can get your phone up high and shoot above head height – perfect for in crowds or when you’re in a situation where you need a shot from up high.Lockable axis is another brilliant addition as it helps you keep the gimbal in the attached case nice and secureAnother thing I’d mention are the inbuilt threads that allow you to attach all kinds of attachments if you want – and I’d say this is essential and perfect for attaching a microphone if you want to.As a professional gimbal operator I have to say this gimbal offers everything you can think of from a new gimbal and then adds lots more features that you might not have even thought of that all come in really handy.The menu system is easy to use too. Really simple and to be honest you don’t need to even read the instruction manual to get it up and runningJust buy it, charge it up, pop your phone on and let the gimbal do the rest for you.And the case it comes with is quality too – really protective and very smart lookingCan’t recommend this enough for super stable stabilisation, premium feel and build quality and for cutting edge features that makes filming and being creative so much more fun.Superb gimbal from Hohem

I’d been after a gimbal for my phone for a good while and after some research and online reviews I came across this Hohem M7.The M7 was well presented in a sturdy and practical carry case and from picking it up you can tell it is a solid and well made product, and the colour is great too.The M7 has AI tracking which can be controlled via a series of hand gestures or on the touch screen and it’s very good, following me with ease as I moved about. Even with other people coming into frame it tracked me brilliantly.The trick that made this stand out for me was not only having the AI tracking but a remote that detaches itself from the gimbal to allow you to control the unit and see what is being recorded on the screen.Hohem recommend you also download their joy app which despite some mixed reviews I have found it good and allowed for some very creative videos on day’s out.I have only just scratched the surface on what this can do, but so far it’s been spot on.

I have used many gimbals in the past few years but this one topes them all. From the padded reinforced box that comes supplied, to the quality of materials, features, and finally operation.The Hohem M7 is quite hefty and has a sturdy feel to it, not to be confused with those plasticky selfies sticks, this is a professional tool with all the meaning of the word professional.It does require some learning in order to be able to utilise the full functions and quickly use them while in your filming location.Comes with a detachable remote control that can be kept on and operated on the gimble itself or removed to be used from a 5-6 metres distance. The remote control has a small LCD screen that can also be used to live-feed what you are filming. I did not even have to set up anything or download any apps, and the live stream started automatically from my Android phone (Pixel 8 XL) straight to the LCD screen.The tilt, pan, rotate functionality can be controlled by manual controls or set to auto and you can adjust parameters such as speed of rotation, and angle, and duration.It does have Ai features and gesture control so if you do the “ok” sign with your hand the follow-me led will turn from red to green and flash once to indicate that it is now active and will follow you around.This is an awesome device that I have to work even more with to be able to completely appreciate its rich features.The iSteady M7 Gimbal can also be handheld or placed on the supplied 3-leg stand. It comes with USB-C cables ready for charging as well as a carry sturdy box for transport. The Hohem gimbal has mechanical locks to secure the device and store at your convenience when travelling.Overall, I am very happy with purchase and will definitely be buying more from this company.

For the price it performs well, regarding reducing vibrations, but it is absolutely horrible in terms of functioning. This gimbal, just too often has mind of it’s own, won’t respond as expected to multiple button clicks, randomly would turn my phone into any angles except simple filming angle, also remote control screen does not show current camera mode or status,thus rendering this gimbal just simple overpriced extension system as there is no way of checking if camera is thanking photos or video or is it turned on at all, is it recording or not recording…nothing can be seen on that remote control, it is basically one way communication (to the camera), and no information on what camera is doing. Many videos ruined, while you have you phone using back (main) camera for selfi video or photo, thus can’t see if it is recording or not.

Great gimbal with AI tracking!
I’ve had the gimbal for about a week, still learning all the functions on the gimbal as well as the Hohem phone app.My initial reaction was that the build quality was very great. It has a rubber coating on the handle which helps in not slipping.Can hold up to a 500 gram payload. This can be your phone with an additional lens if you use one.The best feature I’ve found from this gimbal is the face and object tracking feature. It works very well. You can use hand gestures, the app or the touch screen controller to activate tracking.Once activated, it follows very well, even when there are multiple people in frame (it knows which one it’s tracking). This is great when you’re working alone so the camera follows you.The best is it has the AI tracker camera built into the gimbal. Just above where the phone is.So you don’t have to use your phones camera for tracking.The AI tracker is removable and reversible for selfie shots. It also had a RGB light which is great to light your subject and is adjustable for both RGB color and color temperature from 2700 to 6500 Kelvin as well as brightness.The controller detaches from the gimbal which is great so you can have the gimbal on a tripod or table and see what your camera is seeing. Change framing, start and stop recording as well as tracking and change other settings. ,So you don’t have to physically be with the gimbal to control it.The basic gimbal as a stabilized camera platform works great as well. You can do all the camera movements like other gimbals and it’s very stable.The case was unexpected to be of this great quality. It’s a semi hard case so no worries about your gimbal being damaged. It fits back in the case flat which is great.All motors can be locked as well so if you’re carrying it in a backpack the motors won’t move around.As a bonus, the gimbal has a built in extension pole. It goes to 193mm which is great for selfie or a more dramatic crane shot.
